On a crisp winter’s morning in a little town nestled between Pretoria and Johannesburg, a community pulled together to break the world record for the most potjies cooked simultaneously, and in true Centurion spirit they did just that with a whopping 81 pots!

Each pot was meticulously video-graphed by Timothy Barlin and scrutinised by our stewards, Andries and Salome Janse van Rensburg to ensure that they comply with the requirements (the content had to be potjie and had to be cooking) to count towards the record.

The previous world record title was held by the Margate Light Plane Club, who set an impressive record in 2017 of 66 pots.

Record attempt from the sky taken by Amateur Dronography

To ensure that the title is in the name of those that truly earned it, the organisers have registered a NPC in the name of People who live in Centurion. If we are awarded the title the certificate will reflect the NPC’s name. We will be putting forward our evidence to Guinness World Records for consideration as the new title holder.

From the organisers side we would like to thank each and everyone that had a hand in making 100 Pots for Centurion possible.
