Fraud and corruption
The City of Tshwane is taking a bold step to root out corruption and fraud in its midst. The City recently launched a hotline number that deals with fraud, corruption and theft allegations. The hotline number, 080 874 9263, translates to 080-TSHWANE, which makes it easy to remember.

The objective of the hotline is to create an avenue for whistle-blowers to report their suspicions of fraud, theft and corruption anonymously. This is in accordance with the Protected Disclosures Act and the City of Tshwane Whistle-blowing Policy. Whistle-blowers will be protected; they will not be subjected to victimisation as a result of blowing the whistle in good faith.

Reported cases will be treated confidentially and be referred for further investigation to the City of Tshwane’s Forensic and Investigation Unit.

The hotline is managed independently by KPMG and operates 24 hours a day. Callers will be assisted in any of the official South African languages.

Community members are encouraged to report allegations in order to assist the Municipality to create a fraud and corruption-free culture in the organisation.
