The aim of this competition was to create an event where members of the community could come together in a fun, competitive spirit and show off their soup skills while helping a worthy cause. I believe we accomplished this.

The Report

  • Soups judged on the day – 25
  • Soup collected on the day – just under 100ℓ.
  • Funds raised – R750, enough credits in the bread fund at The Friendly Butcher & Bakery for 107 loaves.
  • 3 businesses and 2 individuals have pledged to drop off soup donations in the week.

Thank you to all our contestants as well as those that came especially to drop off donations. The CMR in Lyttelton hosts 2 soup kitchens per week. They rely heavily on donations from the community of soup and bread to enable them to feed the hungry. Thanks to you contribution they can breath a little easier this week.
